Torquay to host the South West Tourism Excellence Awards 2010/11

It was decided this week that the Riviera International Conference Centre (RICC), Torquay, is to be the venue for the prestigious South West Tourism Excellence Awards 2010/11.

This annual ceremony will take place on 15 November 2010 and is regarded as the highlight of the regions' tourism calendar.

As a celebration of the best in the south west, the awards main aim is to promote and reward the very best in the tourism industry through a rigorous and independent judging process.

The awards are run by the Services for Tourism Ltd, under contract to South West Tourism, and in association with Enjoy England Awards for Excellence, South West Water and e-strategy search marketing.

Barry Cole, Managing Director, Riviera International Conference Centre, Torquay, said:
"We are absolutely thrilled to have been chosen to host this years' ceremony. It is a wonderful opportunity to show so many prestigious south west companies the facilities and dining experience that the RICC offers.

The team at the Centre is a credit to Torquay and more than capable of delivering an evening worthy of the Excellence Awards. We are very excited."

Robin Barker, owner of Services for Tourism and Project Manager of the Awards programme, said:
"It's always ideal when an award winner can be rewarded for their quality with a relevant reward, and it is exactly this with the Riviera International Conference Centre. Last November the RICC won a Silver Award in the Business Tourism category of the South West Tourism Excellence Awards; now, having worked through our detailed requirements, I am delighted that we have agreed to hold this year's Awards ceremony there.

"This will be a major step up for the Awards event, which has seen progressive expansion from a "quiet lunch" for 60 guests just 7 years ago to its current status as the Tourism Industry high spot of the year, with up to 340 guests.

"We're looking forward to a fabulous event and a range of outstanding winners."
