About The Riviera Conference Centre
UK Independence Party
The UK Independence Party (UKIP) is the country’s 4th political party – the largest 4th party in British history.
Formed in 1993, UKIP opposes Britain’s membership of the European Union, and campaigns for an independent, cohesive United Kingdom trading freely with Europe, the Commonwealth and the world.
The party believes in preserving the rights and freedoms which have been established in the UK over centuries. It stands for small government, de-centralised decision-making, giving power back to the people and safeguarding individual liberty.
In 2009, the party came second in the European Elections, beating the then Labour government and the Liberal Democrats, gaining 2.5 million votes nationally and securing 13 seats.
In the 2010 General Election, UKIP firmly established itself as the 4th party in British politics, increasing its vote by more than 50% to more than 920,000. The party stood in over 550 seats nationwide, and came third in four, beating Labour in three constituencies.
